Orientation Tour of Thamel followed by welcome dinner
Day 2 Know Nepal and Kathmandu
Morning talk on local culture and religion; introductory Nepali lesson at the hotel
Walk to Durbar Square - one of the ancient cities in Nepal
In the afternoon, travel to Pasupathinath Temple, a Hindu cremation point and world heritage site.
Day 3 Community Development at Work- Seven Woman Center; Empowering Marginalised Woman
Morning talk on Community Development by the Founder of Seven Woman
Welcome program at the Seven Woman Center and presentations by some of the woman
Engage in a task using your individual skills to engage women at the Seven Woman Center
Day 4 Felt Making Factory, Learn to make a Felt
Morning seminar on Woman and Disability in Nepal
Visit a Felt Making Factory, maybe even have ago yourself! Visit one of the woman's homes.
The woman at the Seven Woman center will teach you to make a felt item & then go to meet a real life Guru.
Day 5 The Snow Capped Mountains & Immerse yourself in a Local Village
Travel to Nargarcot, sunrise over the mountains followed by a walk down to a village
Travel to ancient Bhaktapur for a tour of the beautiful city
Enjoy a Nawari dinner - a traditional celebratory meal of Nepal food
Day 6 Hear the stories of courageous & resilient Nepali woman & Optional afternoon Experience
Panel session, hear from some outstanding woman who are making a difference in Nepal.
Engage in Optional Activities inc. Fair Trade Shopping, Fred Hollows, Massage, Art Gallery or Nepali Cooking lesson
Visit Dhambas Silver making factory which employs members of the Dalit community (lowest cast), have the opportunity to buy some of the products in his showroom and enjoy dinner with his hospitable family
Day 7 Visit organisations creating real and lasting change
Visit a phenomenal organisation which has created innovative solutions to Human Trafficking rescuing thousands of women from around the world.
Tour and lunch at one of the biggest fair trade craft enterprises in Nepal, learn how things are made- including screen printing, felting, textiles and pottery.
Day 8 Teach a class at a Local School and Home stay in the village of Pharphing
Visit a Local School ad try your hand a teaching a class in English
A short bus ride will take us to the village of Pharping where a womans group will show us the meaning of Empowerment and stories of real and lasting change.
Visit a bottle house and learn how locally made solar cookers work.
Day 9 Buddhist Temples & Experience Poverty in a Kathmandu Slum
Visit a Buddhist Temple called Boudhanath the biggest buddhist temple and listed world heritage site and experience a nearby slum and meet slum dwellers.
Celebration at the Seven Woman Center, appreciation dinner and awards night.
